Another CF-Talk goodie, found this web site referred to in a CF-Talk thread this morning. We like to bookmark sorry blogmark! this sort of stuff for future reference.
Good information source for all things related to ASCII here.
In some cases on ColdFusion MX 6.1 where a data source is configured to maintain connections and the number of connections are limited in ColdFusion Administrator the CF Server may hang when trying to get a new connection causing a CPU and memory spike.
The Macromedia hot fix for data connection pooling issues is here.
This is a good one to file away in our blog treasure chest. It’’s a current list of all Well-Known, Registered and Dynamic and/or Private ports. I notice Flash Communication Server is shown as Port 1935.
Here is the IANA well-known TCP/IP ports listing.
802.11g promises to take us past the 11 mbps available in 802.11b without having to throw-away our existing cards etc in the process. However it is not yet a Standard. The good news is we will eventually get nice wireless bandwidth.
This is a good discussion article.
One of our current projects involves taking live video feeds and eventually making them available via a web browser. In researching this we came across this very informative resource on many different video formats.
I thought it would be good to share.
I was following a thread on CF-Talk regarding the locking (or not) of shared-scope variables of applications written for ColdFusion MX only. Dave Watts, as always, had some good input and insight on this. He mentioned the need to learn and understand the needs of concurrency and synchronization and how this relates to [...]
I stumbled across this interesting example of using CSS to allow image roll-over for first displaying the “thumbnail” then the full image on roll-over.
The interesting bit is that only one image is used in the example.
SPAW is a really good looking GPL ColdFusion-based WYSIWYG editor from Mauricio Giraldo. It was launched some weeks ago and has been updated. By the way, sorry for the silence, I have been on vacation in Mexico for a week.
You can view a sample of SPAW here.
You can get SPAW from here.
What is seen as the wireless equivalent of fiber-optic cables should result from the announcement yesterday by the FCC of rules to promote the development of a new wireless technology that can send large amounts of information between buildings without the need to dig up streets to lay cables.
Details from CNN here.
Important announcement here from the FCC. Verbatim: Because of the “pencil-beam” characteristics of the signals transmitted in the 71-76 GHz, 81-86 GHz and 92-95 GHz bands, systems can be engineered to operate in close proximity to one another without causing interference. The FCC believes will stimulate investment and spur research and development in new “wireless [...]
