I have a single application which requires me to remote in. I followed the directions above, and when I modify the Group Policy Object Editor, I receive an error that states I do not have permission to modify - do I need to check with the admin of the remote app?

This is FYI.

I tried this on my 2003 server. It worked, but with a big problem. When my remote (RDP) users log in, they automatically run an application. After applying the steps described here, users found themselves on a desktop.

Fortunately, reversing the steps corrected the situation.

Thanks anyway,

Fantastic, I manage just under 2 dozen severs and have been banging my head on the desk trying to keep them all straight. Using this technique and some quick Paint BGs listing the server name and client will make life tons easier. Thanks a lot.

All of you Guys "ROCK"
I was having the same "EXACT" problem as Richard (produKtNZ)
I did what Tryco2 suggested (step by step) and that fixed it...after I enabled my RDP settings of course...all the suggestions were helpful never, never would've figured it out without them!!!
THANKS!!!!

there is one other tidbit that blackYumura missed:
9 times out of 10 what she said is true but

in the case were there are only 3 or so items listed in computer config/administrative templates in gpedit.msc, and terminal services component is missing altogether( as it sounded like was the case with Richard (produKtNZ) ), it may be because some files are missing from the group policy folder.

copy system.adm, interes.adm and conf.adm from C:\WINDOWS\inf to
C:\WINDOWS\system32\GroupPolicy\Adm and reload gpedit.msc.

had this issue for the first time on a server 2k3 std ed system, and coping those in resoved the issue, and made the single change blackYumura suggested. now all works.
