SeeFusion on Production Servers
We get lots of questions from potential customers about using SeeFusion on production servers, and in particular about using our JDBC “wrapper” for monitoring database activity. The product was written from the ground up for use in production, based on our years of experience with tuning the largest Web applications in the world, and in fact virtually all of our customers use SeeFusion on production servers. But since there’’s nothing like concrete numbers to tell a story about performance, we wanted to take a moment to share some of our stats.
As many people know, we run a live demo of SeeFusion, consisting of the CFML Pet Market application, modified just a bit to run some fairly processing-intensive code, and running under constant load 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Since we last restarted that instance of ColdFusion for a software update, the SeeFusion live demo has been running for nearly 42 days. In that time, the SeeFusion JDBC wrapper has processed an average of 468,923 queries per hour. That’’s 11,254,140 per day, and 472,673,880 total queries, and counting, over the course of 42 days.
Another very useful stat to note is SeeFusion’’s memory utilization metric on the live demo. The active memory averages 1/3 to 1/2 of total allocated memory–a very healthy ratio for a system under load.
We hope these numbers give potential customers even more confidence in the use of SeeFusion on production servers. And, we also hope that folks in the community can use these stats to demonstrate to customers, bosses, decision makers, etc., just how powerful a well-designed, well-hosted ColdFusion application can be.
