Microsoft – EDS Fiasco In The United Kingdom
There has been a major computer fiasco in the United Kingdom. Apparently during
an attempted upgrade to Microsoft desktop systems by the contractor EDS.
It seems that more than 80,000 systems were affected bringing the Department
for Work and Pensions to a standstill. It seems that this part of a $4 Billion
contract which Microsoft and EDS benefited from.
To our UK colleagues over there, is there much use of JRun-CF etc by the Government in the UK? Here in the USA CF is pretty widely used for Government projects. It would be nice to get a piece of the $4 Billion and think of what we could do to help with CFMX-Flex-Breeze-Central etc ;o)

Interesting point Brian with some merit, thanks for taking the time to post this. Your comparison to the Chevy would have merit in the event that the manufacturer had an impecaccable track record. Those are my opinions.

I’ve heard about this and while it’s unfortunate, I don’t really see how this is a “Microsoft Fiasco”. Some consulting company who clearly doesn’t know what they are doing tried to deploy an update to 8 machines and instead updated 80,000 because they performed the update incorrectly. Wouldn’t that be like saying there was a “Chevy Fiasco” because someone who doesn’t know how to drive steers a Chevy truck into a crowd of people?
